After my parents' divorce, life continued. My mom mainly raised me while my father tried his best as he fought and eventually lost the battle against alcoholism, homelessness and epilepsy. An honorable member of the elite 82nd Airborne, I ensured his proper burial at Historic Salisbury Military Cemetry. I attended Erwin Elementary, Lincoln Middle and THE best high school in the city, James B. Dudley High, where I played softball, was a Varsity cheerleader, Dudley Lady, and held leadership in Junior Civitans, FBLA, FHA and could whop like no other at our seasonal gym jams, ultimately graduating with my diploma and highest honors in THE often imitated, never duplicated class of ONE-NINE ... NINE-FOUR! Life has been so full ... and fulfilling, but just like you, I've experienced life's ups and downs - beginning from recall with the death of my grandmother at 16, father at 25, debilitating car accident injury from which I had to learn to walk again, college and nationwide cultural adventures and career positions, a failed first pregnancy, criminal crisis and wrongful conviction, identity theft, a successful yet high risk second pregnancy, single motherhood, entrepreneurship, both success and setbacks; and honestly I'm certain we could swap endless stories about our life's ups and downs over coffee and donuts or WATER and vegetarian crepes.
What this all means is ... quite frankly, I am YOU.
Sometimes, I feel as though the Universe, my Creator, has intentionally laid out this "choose-your-own-adventure" journey for me making sure to nudge and expose me to nearly every sort of life experience there is ... so I could ultimately employ my strength and empathy of innumerable perspectives to serve YOU as you deserve!
So, here I am ... for those who know me best, as I always say,
"I'll give it a whirl!"
We've got work to do y'all. Let's get 'er done.
